Just because you have the right to say something, doesn't mean you should. We all have to live together as a society, and it saddens me to see so many people today who don't care if they offend, hurt or bother other people. Good manners seem to be flying out the window, and no one has any consideration for anyone else. I don't mean to generalise - I know there are a lot of people out there who are polite and considerate, but they seem to be getting fewer and further between. It's especially bad on the Internet, where people can make hurtful comments and remain anonymous, without fear of reprisal from anyone. It's sad.

Edited to add: I do agree that this PC business has started going to far, but who can blame the people who remain ridiculously PC? Everyone today wants to sue someone so they can get money for nothing.

Not really - you can speak about these people without speaking about them in an derogatory way. BUT I do agree that political correctness stifles freedom of speech as the moment you say anything against any of the minority groups then you are labelled an 'ist'. Sexist, racist etc etc

You can say whatever you want. Freedom of speech is always there. Doesn't mean people are going to like you for it, and they can tell you not to say it, because they too have freedom of speech. And now I can say, the only reason why you are opting to say those words is because they are loaded and therefore insulting, so whats wrong with you?

Don't get freedom of speech confused with ethical expectations.

You can say what ever you want.. but understand that if you use unethical terms then you will probably not get the response you want.

Say what you want.. how you want.. just remember there will be consequences for all actions.. good or bad.

Everybody can't agree with everthing all the time. I know there are people who don't like black people for whatever reason...don't have a problem with that as long as you respect me. But if someone says it everybody has a problem with it. People need to stop being so sensitive. Who cares if you're not liked by everyone.

There has to be a balance (often a fine line) between free speech and PC

Often the context of the remark (and its intended audience) is more significant than the remark itself

Of course it stops freedom of speech.

But, perhaps it does make people think about what they say.

But then it goes too far and becomes ridiculous.
