Lying is a tool used to pursue something self-beneficial;
It is just a perverted way of getting there.
This BENEFIT may be an escape from some sort of harm.
Often it is an instantaneous decision, and we (humans) lie, because we see the short term benefit.
Often it feels like THE ONLY solution to a problem, or THE ONLY WAY to get what one wants.

The answer is that we are all natural liars and also honest at the same time
We lie when it best suits our circumstances or if we feel threatened
Lying is a technique where humans provide alternative answers rather than the truthful answer because they believe that it is the most suitable or convenient answer posed by a question even though they know they are lying and in essence share the guilt of lying.
Lying in essence is a technique to accomadate the smooth passage of a conversation

Humans lie for two reasons: 1) they don't trust the other person's response and 2) to keep from hurting someones feelings.

Sometimes, it is better to lie. I would argue that lies -are- needed. There are plenty of times where if I didn't lie, I would lose my job, my friends, hurt my family... Not because I'm a particularly bad person, but just because I wasn't telling them what they wanted to hear. That can be both hurtful to people you're close to and detrimental to a career.

I believe some people are too frightened of reality and their own shortcomings, and feel they need to cover their feelings of ineptness with lies. To some people, it may indeed be needed. They may not be able to deal with reality and may be lying to themselves, not just to others. Reality might just put them over the edge and lead to profound depression and suicide. That chemical reaction may just be a coping technique for survival.

Cuz..humans have the instinctive need to protect themselves...whether its from being hurt physically or mentally..its like a defense mechanism gets switched on and they just automatically do watever is needed..or watever they think they need to do, to protect themselves. The reason people lie is to get outta a sticky situation intact.

To deceive; to protect others from the truth ,when the truth can cause more harm than good; and fear of punishment. These are the 3 main reasons why people lie.
