Although I am not completely aware with the traslation in my language of your wife's "illness" I have the feeling that she is suffering from the same thing as my mom years ago. Unfortunately my mother could not avoid the surgery because her spinal disk was misplaced, creating a liquid. The misplaced spinal disk and the liquid hitted and pressed nerves which were connected to her left leg and after a while she could not walk and she was in pain all the time.
After the surgery she had to stay in bed for 2 months..
If she has any pain in her legs maybe u should consult another doctor and get second, even a third opinion, if needed.
Good luck and I wish the best for your wife's health.
P.S. Hoping I could help you more.

Disc prolapse generally infers the nucleus has degenerated or has collapsed. It does not regenreate. There is a new procedure which replaces the disc. There will eventually, possibly be replacement of the nucleus.

Listen to the doctors.
These are "teens" here.
Not me. I'm old.
Surgery is serious, always.
Good luck.
