There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......
(L)isten: and validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.

Love is long suffering,

Can U define what is love? Acutally love cannot be defined becos it is a feeling u will feel when u fall in love... u know that kind of heart thumping.. breathing getting more unsteady... sweaty palms when u see that special someone.. u will do whatever for that person.. becos u love him/her.
Like is different... u may like a person.. for a character or personality of that person.. or a talent of that someone.. that is not call love. that is call appreciation or liking....
love had no boundaries... regardless in age, in gender, in race or qulifications...

It is a feeling you have towards someone or something that you deeply care about. It can be but not limited to a partner, family, sacred item, animal, etc.
