It goes back to the Stage coach days (probably even earlier) when women would get dusty and nasty along the road so at the carriage stops there would be a "room for rest" where a woman could relax or freshen up with a pitcher of water and a basin. some would have benches and chairs. some were even more ornate depends on the local.

a long time ago. the restrooms used to have sofa's and lounges to rest in. Along with other comforts will you did your thing. They where also called comfort rooms as well. It all came about based on the design and layout of the room.

It was one of the lazy people, the ones who go into a stall and sit there and take a nap....so yeah, tired, but I'm leaning more towards lazy :)
