Yes, Pluto has been a planet since 1930. I think that as in the case of most laws that have recently come to pass that a grandfather clause should be put into effect. Pluto should remain a planet and all others to be classified from this point on should follow the guidelines set fourth by the IAU. Pluto has been a planet for the last 76 years and there are enough generational gaps in our society without adding the phrase: I remember when I was young there were 9 planets in our solar system.

I think given the choice between memorizing 8 planets or memorizing possibly 23 (because if Pluto were to retain its classification as a planet then other celestial bodies recently discovered would have to be classified as planets as well), I'd take the easy way out and memorize the 8.

I think that Pluto should remain 1 of the 9 planets as most remember it being. Why in the world do they need to change it now after all this time.I heard that there is going to be more planets to now.

I think Pluto should still be a planet because I am used to it being a planet. But if it is not, it is not..... How do you think people felt when they had to adjust to the earth being round instead of flat- this is nothing compared to that! lol

I went to a conference by an astronomist in Lake Arrowhead about 5 years ago. She said that they (astronomists) knew Pluto wasn't a planet for a long time. They just didn't want to break it to the man who discovered it, so they waited until he died. Just wait, they'll be telling you that Jupiter isn't a planet either. It emits light. Cellestial(sp) bodies classified as planets do not do that.
