I'll believe it when I see it!
Age groups, and men and women groups are one thing, but race will open a huge can of worms! Bad idea!

A Racy Twist for "Survivor"
Jeff Probst popped in on The Early Show Wednesday morning, confirming the reports that the 20 castaways for Survivor: Cook Islands will be grouped by race, with competitors divided into four tribes consisting of whites, blacks, Asians and Hispanics.

I'm sorry, can't get worked over this because I hate this show. I always wished for the tribal council to turn the tables on Jeff Probst and fire him instead, but since I won't be holding my breath for that, I've moved on.
Why wouldn't Survivor exploit race for ratings? American Idol did it more than a few times...

I don't think this is racism. They are doing this just the same as the last season when they divided into young men, old men, young women, old women - so was that ageism and sexism?? or just the game??
They only do things like this to make people talk about the show.......and see it worked! If you disagree then just don't watch. If enough people feel the way you do then they won't set the show up that way again. I'm still gonna watch tho.

Yeah, I saw the ad last night...this season it is four tribes...white, black, hispanic and asian.
What the hell is Burnett thinking?! There is noooooo way he is going to play this off as anything but racist. It is offensive enough to me when they seperate men and women and "play off the differences"...but for the love of...what is going on in his mind.
This is a horrible, offensive idea..this may be the season I totally give up on what has become a show that is a bad parody of itself.

i do think it is bad. it is just grouping by an obvious difference. yeah i think it sounds really bad but shouldn't we be able to play with race woithout it sparking controversy? maybe not. maybe. i mean the arent being seperated by race because one is better than the other. it is just an easy way to group people. all this noise that people are making about it is just showing that America hasnt yet gotton over the issue of race.

I know Survivor tends to run out of fresh ideas, but the race thing is horrible.I'll watch it but I'm seriously thinking of writing CBS a letter of complaint.

it's kinda wierd.
here you have the "model minority" argument, where you are trying to show the best and worst of any ethnic group.
but on the other hand, this is america, where people identify themselves primarily by race and ethnicity. People are interested seeing in how other cultures "behave." and they can observe this social experiment in the safety of their own home on TV instead of venturing out scared into some ghetto to see firsthand the "natives".
