It may be just a easy to pull it out and look at it.If the wires are not broke it should be fine. It may just as well be the air flow relay and will not let the element turn on.They are simple to replace and sometimes go out when you get a clogged up lint screen.
If you would do the repair your self bet you can find something on line simple how to using your model number.
Good luck

If the element does not get red and you have no heat from the vents. You will have to have a multimeter to do the next test. UNPLUG THE ELECT. CORD. take back off, locate both wires to the element, place the multimeter to ohms X 200. You should read some resistance. Am not sure exactly how much but probably around 100 ohms. If you have some resistance the element should be good. and your problem is probably in thermostat or some of the temp. sensors. You will have to locate the sensors one should be on your exhaust vent and another somewhere around top of dryer. These are round disc and have at least two wires coming from it. Check these with multimeter also on the X 200 ohms scale, they should read zero ohms, if not it is bad. By the way you can buy a digital multimeter at many discount stores for under $10.00 and could save you a little money in the long run.

I'd feel for hot air coming out the vent -- if it's at all warm (make sure the dryer setting is not on "air fluff"), then your heating element is fine. The suggestion to take the back of the dryer is fine (and will be necessary should you decide to change the element yourself) -- just be very careful, since you're exposing live wires. (I would unplug the dryer, take the back off, then briefly plug it back in if you want to see if the element glows.)

Good luck!

No hot air coming out the vent.
or you can take off the back of the dryer and see if the heating unit gets red.

turn the unit on, leave it for a bit, then reach in and touch the heating element, that should answer your question
