Women have the choice in the end wether to get an abortion or not. Men don't have that choice, they may give input but the woman decides in the end. If a woman decides to abort, it's her decision no matter how much the man would want the child. So he looses, but if she decides to keep the child, no matter how much the man doesn't want it, he pays child support, no matter what.

Ok so let's say this propousal would give the men in these situations a choice, if the woman wants to keep the baby, the man could opt. to not want it, all he would have to do would be sign a legal document and he has nothing to do with the unborn and doesn't have to pay child support. This will equal out the fact that if a woman doesn't want it and the man does, that doesn't matter and she could just abort it.

Would you support this propousal?

Puppy - I'm not saying anything about forcing a woman to have a child, all I'm saying is that they have the right to decide to an abortion if they don't want it. Then the men should have a right to deny the unborn and not pay child support.

Yes, you make a good point. Since, in the current political framework, the "choice" is entirely the woman's - then she should have entirely the responsibility.

1) This would be much more equitable to men or are looked upon purely as sperm and dollar donors.

2) It would give new value to this quaint thing called "marriage" - in a marriage the husband/father is bound to support the wife/child.

You should contact your state representative, get a petition started. A very good idea.

ok i know this is for men only but i totally agree with you on the whole men dont have a choice. for some reason the media favors the women and forget that it does in deed take two to make a baby...now on the other hand seeing as it does take two to make a baby a man should not be allowed to sign something saying he doesnt want the baby becuase they should have thought of that before they drop their load and multiplied. Many woman take men to court for child support becuase they need help it is very hard to raise a baby by yourself. besides sometimes the court favors the men in the situation and they end up not having to pay child support. Its a very mixed up world out there but i TOTALLY agree with you that the men should have some say when it comes to an abortion

i dont believe in abortion at all for ANY reason .
but i do understand where your coming from on this one .
men do seem to get the short end of the deal here .
along with your thought of a man not wanting any thing to do with the unborn , if the women decides to keep the baby , i think the man sould also have a say in the abortion debate not by making a women kill the child if hes to shelfish to raise it ,, but in other words if the women gets pregnant and is selfish to cope with the new life style of mommy , and the man wants the child , i think he sould have the right by law to make her have the child and sign her rights away to him , then she disappears from the both of thier lifes . with no support exspected ,

I am a woman, but totally agree. Today, when birth control methods are so at hand, women should not have the upperhand and men should also have a say and choice. Sorry to say, but some women do utilize babies to exert pressure and manipulate a relationship. Have seen it so many times!!
