Jesse Woods Johnson has been a busy man since his days of guitar work for The Time. In fact, he reportedly has a new C.D. slated for release this year:

My favorite Prince tune is Purple Rain, largely because it is the title song of his 1984 ground-breaking quasi-autobiography. One of the greatest artists in the history of R&B, Prince demonstrated an incredible array of skills on this project that set the industry on its ear, including winning an Oscar for best original score. Even so, the critics were hard-pressed to recognize the significance of the event. I'd almost forgotten the powerful ending. Check out these Hendrix -like guitar riffs as Prince commands the stage:

Oh my! Lots of them. I was there in the '80s!

I will say the entire 1999 album. I had just moved to NYC, and Walkmans were becoming the rage. I never went anywhere without mine, and I had no money so I walked around the city a lot. 1999 was one of the tapes always playing.
