I've heard that Windows XP operates efficiently with 1GB of RAM so I suggest increasing the memory from 512 to 1GB assuming you're running Windows XP. Do it anyway regardless of OS.

You can also try downloading RAM optimizing software like Free Ram Optimizer XP 1.0 and have it run on your system. It's gotten good reviews from users. I've never tried it...I have 1GB RAM. :)

well you can upgrade you RAM to 1GB frm the 512MB you have, also try out memory optimizers. Likewise try disk clean-up utilities to clean up you hard disk of temporary files that are not used but just taking up space or gefragment your hard drive to creat more space. I f you have some software applications loaded which are not useful at the moment you can have them uninstalled because the more programs you have installed the more slower the computer becomes. Finally if this still does not work, then you can decide on a complete upgrade of your system.

Throw it down a steeper hill. Haha.

But seriously you could try upgrading the RAM from 512 to 1024. Might help a little.

Put it in your car and go down the highway doing 80.

If it is a celeron, you won't get much more out of it. There is a bottleneck at the processor's small cache size.

Depends on what you do with it, and what things it does slowly.

You could try adding more memory, but with a 1Ghz (I assume that's what you meant) CPU you may do better to replace the whole motherboard.

Or just replace it, Lord knows Dell could use the business!

RAM!! You might also try getting rid of programs you don't use, Disk Cleanup, Disk Check, and Defragment your HDD.
