I have had them several times. Cool water seems to help, but actually, a shot at the dr. office takes care of it in a snap. They are from a number of things...allergies and stress. I had them before a final exam...which is a miserable condition to have when taking a test. I would suggest you see a dr. and see what he/she has to say. Also, pamper yourself a little because it could be stress related. If you have been around animals lately, you might want to rethink having contact with them. Good luck and hope you feel better soon. Hives are no fun....also, if they are large hives...get to the dr. fast.....it is an allergic reaction and you might have your throat swell shut....I have had that kind from using new laundry detergent. Tide is know for causing that. I had used it on my sheets on my bed and was a total mess. Use Arm and Hammer fragrancefree-allergy free soap on your sheets.

You can take an over the counter antihistamine, also you should try to remember if there was anything in particular you ate just before the hives came up as they can be a sign of allergy to a food.

go see a dermatologist or an allergist. You need to know what is CAUSING the hives and remove that stimulus to make sure you don't get a break out again. Anit-itch creams or antihistamine pills for now will help relieve the symptoms, but that won't ensure that it won't return. You need to see a doc to determine the root cause and eliminate it.

Depends on how you got it in the first place..

If from some medication, then stop taking it immediately and talk to your doctor.

If from some allergic reaction to food or irritants, then you can take Benedryl.

I got them BAD once in college. Benedryl is what I took and sprayed on my skin to help the itch. If it gets really bad get to a doctor! They can cause swelling, including your airway. (My eyes and lips swelled...it was awul! I feel for you!)
