When a person first reads the question, he or she only sees the beginning of it. Like your question, I only saw "why do people reply to really thick questions like what colour....?;" so then I click on the question to read the rest of it. Once I have read the rest of the question, I am already "there" so I might as well answer it.
I have replied to inappropriate questions too. I will only see the first part, then I click to read the rest; and since I am already there I will go ahead and let the asker know what I think of the question.
In my case, it is curiosity, I sometimes want to read the rest of the question.

nice try slagging off my question, do you really think i am going to lose sleep over your opinion? nope! and quite a few people liked my question so that back fired. oh and cheers for the free advertisement to my question.

It depends what you classify as a ' Good Important Question' Because I think your question is pretty stupid, and i dont see the point. Does that answer your really good question

I once had a dream that was completely yellow/orange. And all the little rascals were in it, painting my garage. I was like, eight years old.
