Every since i was sick with a really bad viral infection a month ago i have had this cough that is deep in my chest and sometimes when i start to cough it gets out of my control i feel like im choking and then suddenly its like i feel like im dry heaving its painful too. What the heck is it?? The dr. told me everyone gets a bad cough there is nothing to worry about, who gave him his degree?

There isn't anything to worry about. I do it too. It'll probably take awhile to get over.

You've probably sustained some damage to your trachea or tonsils. It's nothing to be worried about. People go through this all the time after surgery or after being put on oxygen, et cetera. There's really nothing that can be done.

Or you've still got the virus... If it is a virus, they can only treat the symptoms so your dr is blowing you off b/c there's nothing that can be done for a virus so you're just going to have to deal with this for awhile until it goes away.

You'd have to ask HIM who gave him his degree. I don't know that info unless you give me his name and the name of his practice.

I would go and see another doctor. I had walking pnemonia earlier this year and my cough wasn't anything like you are describing. Your infection could not be gone yet either.

it may be phneumonia or bronchitis. or if you recently quit smoking, your body is just removing all the tar from your lungs. the docs crazy. i havent had a bad cough in years, and its not normal. i ll go see a real doctor.

go to a respiratory specialist. not just a general practitioner.
