When you attend the first of each of your classes, take the syllabus each professor gives you and copy all the important dates into your planner. (A syllabus describes all the important info about the class, including its aims, what you'll be studying, grading policies, assignments, test dates, etc.) A good planner will have ample room for you to write in all the many things that could be due or need to be done on a given day.
Of course, go to all your classes. Start on homework as soon as it is assigned. Take advantage of your college's programs for study help, assistance for writing papers, and take the time to truly learn how to use the library...it will save you lots of time when a bunch of papers are due and you have lots of things to research!
Get involved on campus...there are lots of great clubs to join and lots of ways to have fun without getting sucked into the party scene. Too much drinking is not indicative of college success! A great club to look into is ASB or Alternative Spring Break...you'll get involved in your community through service and meet lots of great people.
If you find yourself overwhelmed, remember you have options. Stay after class to talk to your professor, or visit them during their office hours for help. Your college may also have a counseling center where you can talk for free to someone about any problems you might have.
Finally, a piece of advice I have for every college student is to take advantage of some career counseling, even if you are pretty sure of what you want to do. Most colleges offer career counseling for free, and it will help you to discover where your interests lie and what careers match up with your interests and with the goals and values you have set for yourself. Furthermore, you can learn exactly what each particular career entails and perhaps even set up an opportunity to do some shadowing of someone in the position you one day would like to hold.
Enjoy college...its an opportunity to learn more about yourself and the world than you can currently imagine.
Best of luck!

Do keep secrets don't tell anyone everything.
Don't drink everyday.
Do dress "up" for class it makes a good impression on the professor and the other students.
Don't sign up for those credit cards they give students.
Do create a routine once you get there and stick to it.
Don't engage in late night eating after drinking- you'll gain 15 pounds before Christmas break.
Do sit in the front of the class room- the professors will remember you and sitting in the back gives the slacker impression.
Don't buy text books right away if you can get away with it- some professors never use them. You can buy them online for much cheaper at halfprice.com.
Do join a club right away so you can be an officer by the time you are a junior or senior- it may help you get a job later.
Don't change your major a million times.
Do make sure to execise.
Don't forget old friends from home, you will only be in college 4 years.
Do a stay abroad program- I didn't and I regret it.
Don't sleep around.
Do lock your doors at night- a bad thing happend to me when I forgot to.
There are so many more - I will post when I think of them.

Do's:
1) Make friends
2) Develop a plan for studying. Remember you are here to learn and your grades will have an impact on the job you get when you finish.
3) Have a good time.
Don'ts:
1) Don't get involved with the wrong people.
2) Don't party all the time.
3) Wait until you finish college to get into a serious relationship

Do: have as much fun as possible while still maintain a good GPA. Do things out of your box. Study Abroad! best experience I had in college. Date lots of people, so you can find the right one! Have lots of friends and go to lots of events. Over all just have fun because it goes by quick and then you have to figure out what you are going to do for the rest of your life!

Do: Study, take time off when getting burned out on studying, meet new friends, talk to people around campus, get to know your professors, get involved at a professional level in the field you're entering
Don't: Party more than study, accept drinks that you didn't see poured (especially from a stranger), go to frat parties (unless you enjoy date rape), pull all-nighters unless studying for a major exam, be a bad roomate, date professors

Remember that your studies come first, you are there to get a education, not there to get drunk or high. Becareful with your tarties I know they give you so many, but becareful keep up with them on how many you miss from each class. You can buy used books instead of new ones to help cut cost, and dont snack to much while in classes its bad for the belly.
