Some women do experience weight gain while on birth control pills, or the patch, or any of the other hormonal methods of birth control. Obviously, using condoms doesn't cause you to gain weight, and also protects against STD's.

For some people it does. But diet and exercise can help abate this.

I did not gain a POUND by taking birth control. Actually, most of the symptoms people claim happen when you take the pill - gaining weight, boobs getting bigger and becoming really moody - none of those things happened to me. I've been on the pill for over 10 years now.

some may cause you to retain water, usually due to the hormonal changes that occur. The shot is usually the biggest one to cause weight gain however it is a side effect of most birth controls.

It doesn't make everyone gain weight - in fact, I lost 10 lbs. when I started on the pill, so it's different for everyone. If you're experiencing major weight gain when you go on the pill, chances are you just need a lower dose (think Yaz or Alesse or Ortho Try Cyclen Low)

yep, sure does. I only gained 5 pounds since I started it at the beginning of June, but I've used diet and exercise to keep the weight down. My boyfriend is loving my bigger boobs, though.

It makes water retain. If you do not want this to happen you may want to use pill called Yasmin, which contains 30 µg etinilestradiol i 3 mg drospirenon.
