If studying is not one of your favorites things...I don't blame you. Often, learning become a taxing 'job' because teachers do not use the appropriate method of teaching. Some teachers have the method...but lack the attitude and enthusiasm. Somewhere along the way, you lost the desire to learn and that's not your fault. But the fact remains...education is important to improve and enhance the quality of one's life. We learn most effectively when we are ENGAGED in the learning activity/process. Imagine a situation when a person learns to kiss for the first time. The act of kissing is learned so well because the kisser is totally engaged in the learning experience. We don't have this kind of privilege in the classroom. Teachers don't walk the extra mile to make lessons engaging and interesting. So, the ball is on your court. YOU CAN MAKE LEARNING engaging too! Interact with the knowledge you encounter everyday. Draw things to represent ideas/concepts. Sing a song that incorporates the things you want to memorize. Talk to people about the new information that you have acquired. Do as many interesting thing as possible with a piece of information. Be creative! Remember, knowledge remains the possession of others as long as it remains uninteracted with. Once you find a way to interact with a piece of information, it becomes internalized into your schema (folders in your mind) and becomes a part of you. Eventually, you own the piece of information and it will go a long way with you! Try checking what's your learning style...that will help too.

Check out how-to-study.com.
Do you know what way you learn? Are you a visual learner, auditory learner, a hands on learner, or a combination? If you know which one you are, there are study techniques that can help you be a better learner.
Even if you do not have specific homework in a subject, go over your notes and worksheets each day. This will make studying for a test much easier.
Good Luck!

-Take tons of notes.
-Study after school (or after any sports) and don't allow yourself to do anything else until you are finished, on Fridays too, makes the weekend better.
-Make flash cards as you study the chapters, so when it comes time for the test, you can go over them instead of flipping back and forth through your books and homework.
-try to do as little on the computer, write things out by hand, you tend to remember it more (especially a foreign language and history dates)
