Do it before your anniversary. Take her where she always wanted to go or if she likes Disney take her to Disney World it fun or get a hotel for just the two of yous. Make it the best days of your life's you can go for three days or more that's even better she can also rest from all she has done.

The traditional gift idea for 1st anniversaries is paper, but the modern is a clock. My husband and I don't give the 'traditional' gifts to ea. other, we like to go to bed and breakfast inns. They're great for special occasions and are very romantic. You check-in, usually they'll have refreshments when you arrive. You get a lovely room and usually they don't have any TVs or phones so you can concentrate on each other. Go to dinner on the town and spend the night together. Sometimes you can ask for extras like chilled champagne or chocolates as a package added to your room to make it special. And the next morning, you'll have a full breakfast served to you in the main dining area or up in your room (if they offer that service).

You may also choose a room with a jetted whirpool tub depending if that's something you and wife would enjoy. And sometimes the rooms have different themes too. It's nothing like the tradtional hotel/motel. The service is more personalized. And if you get a chance read up on what others have to say about the place. Sometimes you'll get great feedback. I assure you, she'll love it. I love it every year when my husband and I get to do this and we've been married for six years.

And thanks in advance for choosing to serve our country. God bless you and your family.

Jewelry always works. I think the first anniversary is also suppose to be paper, but I suggest you wrap the jewelery in paper... Nice earrings, or a pretty nickles will work.

How about a romanitic dinner...It would be even more romantic if you cooked it yourself and made the house all "pretty" for her. Also Jewelry never fails. And after dinner, you could run her a bubble bath with candles and rose petals.
