I could give you a few reasons. Men past their 30's are increasingly less shallow in their interrests, especially when it comes to women. Once a guy gets some distance on puberty he starts to look at the women he's chasing and he figures out that there are much easier ways to make himself happy.
Generally older women are more experienced lovers,
Less insecure about their relationships,
Less interrested in commitment,
More often self-supporting,
More emotionally stable,
Less likely to get pregnant,
Less Mercenary,
More appreciative of our efforts,
More inclined to experiment sexually,

I guess it depends on how desperate the guy is and how attractive the women is.
Personally I am 40 and do not find older women attractive at all.

why not? it's not the age, it's the appeal, sometimes your attracted to people, even if it doesn't make sence to you...i've got a friend who is in there 50's and younger men are constantly attracted to her. I'd imagine it's the person behind the age :)
