Further, Cleage supports his claims to Christ's Blackness, by stating that the tribe of Judah was a "mixture of Chaldeans, Egyptians, Midanites, Ethiopians, Kushites, Babylonians and other dark peoples, all of whom were already mixed with Black people of Central Africa." That right thier proves he was black so we must put out the pic of a white jesus because its not the trurth

Take a look at the people of Israel now and you will see what Jesus's complexion would be like now, and what his hair and eye color would have been like. Most likely olive skin brown eyes and hair. BUT who really cares what color he was? Does it really matter?

I think that pictures of a white Jesus are so prevalent today because Christianity took such a strong hold in Europe than it did in other parts in the world. Europeans depicted Jesus as they saw themselves, which was fair-skinned. We all know how during the ages of European Exploration and Colonization, missionaries came along as a way to soften the native peoples and make them more controllable .I'm sure that if you do some more research, you'll find depictions of Christ from other regions in the world where he'd resemble the people from the place those pieces of art were made. I've seen depictions of Mary and Jesus where they looked African and Asian. As a Filipino, I've seen statues of a Baby Jesus, called Santo Ninos, where they had black hair and brown skin, which are physical traits that most Filipinos possess.

I disagree that Jesus was black. As per the Discovery Channel, A clay model of Jesus was reconstructed by forensic experts using the most advance scientific facts available. Jesus most likely looked most similar to present day Lebanese or Palestinians, but with short cropped hair and beard in keeping with the Judaic culture at the time.

Jesus was a Jew. Jews are not very white.
A Swedish is an example of a very white person with blond hair and pale skin.

Its hollywood that try to potray Jesus as having blond hair and blue eyes. And leonardo da vincis paintings too.

They never saw Jesus or knew what he looked like.

People chose a form of God that they can relate to.

If you have an autrhentic photo of Christ is one thing. One artistic impression to another makes no difference. You can have an asian or black jesus if it serves you to relate better or for that matter a caucasian buddha or Allah written in Chinese characters.

The form is only temporary. It is the significnace that the form holds that is most important. If you are reminded of Love andf Compassion when you look at your artists impression of God, then by all means - go for it!

Jesus was a jew. The Jews were directed by God not to mix races in order to keep the line pure because of Jesus. There is no evidence that Jesus lineage was mixed, Mary's lineage is in Mark and Joseph's is in Matthew.

Jesus wasn't blond with blue eyes like he's shown in movies--I don't know where that portrayal came from--but he wasn't exactly "black". His ancestry given in the Bible (Gospels of Matthew and Luke) basically tells us that he was a Hebrew--a descendant of Abraham. He probably looked like the other Israelis and Arabs in the world.

I'm not trying to be rude here, but your question would make more sense if I knew who Cleage is and what he wrote.

Who is Cleage? And just because he states such, what support does he have for the statement?

I agree, an Anglo Jesus is a funny thought considering the time an dplace of life.

Little arguments like this are why many people turn from your faith altogether. Was he white or black, did he have long hair and a beard, all irrelevant in the scheme of things, and only those with the most shallow, base prejudices would care.
