I want to start watching about 3 kids. I would like to put it in the paper to get it out there. I live in a great neighborhood, I have two kids of my own. I want to charge 80.00 a week and I would watch them extra at night for extra money. My husband is in Iraq and I would like to make some extra money without having to put my own in daycare. I thought this would be a great way to do it and also let my kids have that interaction with other kids. I want the add to be catchy but also infomative. All of your ideas would be great! Thanks!!!

First check the laws in your area and make sure you're not violating any. I know most states have a limit of children per one adult. But do you see that as easy money or do you want to take care of children. Word of mouth is good too. Tell your friends you are doing it and if they know anyone needing a sitter. Moms prefer someon referred by a friend wrather than a day care. POst signs at your local stor bulleton board. In an add, "Stay at home mom, will watch you child/children ...(put what hours, put your experience, how big your house is, what activities you would have for their children. ANd your age restrictions. You want to stay away from very young children. They need a lot of love and you would be drained at the end of the day and cranky when dealing with your own. Believe me I've been there.

The trick to good copy (I have 7 years experience) is to be honest, to the point, and if you can, get a concept in that works, although this isn't always necessary. Start off with a headline, like:

Join our family

I just read your post and it strikes me as about right. Talk about a "safe nurtring environment"... "exciting activities"... "a god loving family" ... finish off with something like "give me a call if you'd like to meet"

Put yourself in the other parents shoes. Are there kids going to be safe? What will they eat? Are you nice? Are your kids bullies? and so on, and address each issue by just brushing on it (don't elaborate)
