It is not the form of the art that makes it great, but the content and the effect it has on people.
I suppose some forms might be more effective because they affect more senses. So maybe the performing arts could have a big impact because you can see and hear them. Unfortunately the content is often not so fantastic. I think I would go with cinema though, because it has visuals, music, narrative, and words. It could be really powerful. Even when just entertaining, it can be absorbing. But I don't think that the medium has been treated as seriously as it could have been.

If I had to pick just one form of Art that is my favorite I wouldn't be able to. From being an artist or the audience. I don't know if the question can be answered, because it would limit the creative process, and the inspirational effects of Art. I think that great Art is much more then a matter of opinion, and at the same time it can create opinions. Perhaps the greatest form of Art would be the wonders, and coincidence that occur in nature...

The question cannot be resolved because it's all relative. If you look through history at all of the great art forms (painting, sculpture, music, architecture, literature, dance, etc.) and all of the significant movements, one can only conclude that the question, "what is the greatest art form" is purely subjective.

The Lamborgini Countach
Pure art
The looks, the sound, the sheer joy.
But thats my opinion, and like all things if you like it you like it not everyone will agree with you, some will say "But its a car"
I would reply "What a car it is though"
There will never be an answer to this question as its all down to personal taste.

Unanswerable - it's like beauty, you can have a beautiful lake, a beautiful dog, a beautiful rainbow, a beautiful mind - you cannot compare one genre to another. I doubt that you could find universally accepted exemplars of each type - one man's meat is another man's poison. I suppose that anything which is performed in a manner of economical beauty greatly pleasing to the senses is an art form - it would be hard to classify modern abstract art as being in the same league as one of the great concertos.

I think sculpture is the greatest form of art. Probably because I prefer realistic art rather than abstract, I find realistic, 3-D art to be the most expressive. Isn't expression the point of art?

I would say that the greatest form of art - is art itself! You know...painting, drawing, calligraphy...it has been a MAJOR part of the human culture since the beginning of human evolution and it will continue to play a major role in society today; art gallery's, cartoons - both still and animated, and as a way of stress-relief, education, and expressions!

The greatest form of art is life, each living thing is unique and is not a copy of anything else. You can not buy it or keep it for ever. It changes with each passing day

The greatest form of art is art itself. To truely appreciate art you have to appreciate all forms of art and artistic ability. From sculptures to theater. That's my opinion anyway.
