Yes, Democrats are by definition Commie Atheists! Except there are now Muslims in it as well.

Abramoff was not a Christian as such, but he was a Republican so they made him an honorary one. Even Schickelgruber recognized that sort of exceptional case, back in the 1930s.

No, I don't think this country is necessarily divided along those lines. Plus there are non-Christian Reps and many Christian Dems, so that's really not correct.

As for the divide, there are the extremists that drive their parties (yeah, I'm probably considered an 'extremist' conservative, I guess) but for the most part, there is a vast middle ground of more moderate people that.

There are also many more ways to divide this country.

But as for the biggest divide today, it would have to be between those who support Bush and the War against Islamic fascism and those who do not support it. That is the biggest division in the US today.

That's not quite accurate. The religious extremists controlling the Republican party are not Christian by any means. A "Christian Republican" claims to support both the Bible and the Constitution but has never read either one.

Basically, we have one group who wants their hateful misinterpretation of the Bible to be law, and another who thinks all of our problems can be solved by raising taxes to fund more social programs. That huge empty gulf between the two positions is what's dividing this nation. We need a viable third party to fill that gap.

I'm an ordained evangelical minister who is about to switch my party registration from GOP to Democrat. Both parties are being controlled by extremists, but I figure I stand a better chance of being heard as a pro-life, pro-gun Democrat than as a Republican who backs pro-environmental policies and the First Amendment.

yes .we are divided among religious and political lines with most christians favoring the republicans .
What we do not talk about is the division among race's with black christians and other minority's being democrats in large part .
Republicans only play to the black and minority community and never work to solve the underlying issues .
THEY are not concerned with this group of people at all and it shows ..
THEY pretend to be , but will not do anything to correct the problems many poor blacks face in america .
I forsee a real problem in 10 years with a growing minority base that becomes more vocal and wants more from there hard work .
We have a battle with what i call check book government and around my house the kid how yelled the loudest got the check and daddy said i am out of money when the otheres wanted some cash .
HE was not out but merely unwilling to part with more money .
SO quickly everyone tried to meet dad in the drive way to collect allowances and any extra they wanted for entertainment .
So if i was out cutting a neighbors lawn i missed out on the free money but was happy to take care of myself .
So this is how government operates but i can see this has changed .
A major city in america was devistated and mnay smaller communities along the mississippi alabama and florida and louissianna coast and inland for 20 miles .
Instead of rushing in and providing a boast for all companies who make home products and building materials and shipping companies and bringing america togheter to relief the suffering of thee people .THEy instead sent the welfare checks and people all over the place .
Instead of building a tent and trailer city for people to work out of with phone banks and aide they scattred everyone .
THIS was a chance to give people the oppertunity to rebuild and restore some sense of value to there lives .
BUSH did not miss the chance but he turned it into a photo oppertunity and to this day nothing has been done .

Rumors of the Great Divide are just that - rumors.

Personally, if I were to suggest a divide in this country I'd say it's between the fast and the slow. Which are you?

Are you saying that all Democrats are Atheist? What about all the other religions in the US where do they fall, Independents? I'm sure there are Christian Democrats.

Why is it that non-US citizens think they can judge our countries politics?

one is a religion and the other two are political philosophical positions. As for division, we have alot less of that since 9/11.

Not necessarily divided, but diversive yes. Congress is divided in two parts and there are Christians on both sides.
Humanity and its' Christianity alone is divided to their beliefs of their own God who they choose. I alwasy thought of it as one God, but there are several accroding to their religous walks of life and they themselves divide themselves from the current state of relgion Amercia goes by.
