It's a sticky dilemma: What do you do when the Double Bubble lands on your living room carpet? While your natural reaction might be to blow up at the gum chewer in the family, be sweet instead and follow these tips. You'll be out of this mess in no time.
Steps:
1. Scrape away as much of the gum as you can using a spatula or spoon (to protect carpet fibers).
2. Vacuum or brush away loose pieces.
3. Rub the remaining gum with a plastic bag filled with ice until the gum is frozen.
4. Chip away the frozen gum fragments using a spatula or spoon.
5. Dissolve any final traces of the stuff by dabbing with a small amount of dry-cleaning fluid. Blot.
6. Blot on a detergent solution of 1/4 tsp. mild dishwashing liquid and 1 cup (8 fl oz/250 ml) warm water.
7. Rinse thoroughly.
Overall Tips:
You can try this remedy to remove gum from clothes or shoes, too.
Some citrus-based products, such as Orange-Sol or De-Solv-It, break down the stickiness of gum so that it is easier to remove.

I was going to say Dry Ice...because it's really cold and works very quickly to freeze the gum where you can just scrape it off.
However, most normal people don't have that on hand. However, you can use one of those compressed air dusters that are used to clean the dust out of your keyboard, pc, etc. Know what I mean?
Just take one of those, turn it upside down and spray. That will freeze the gum up pretty quickly.
Good luck.

Try applying a little peanut oil, waiting and then rubbing it off. I know it can help get gum out of hair, might work with cloth too.
On the other hand, it's easier to wash hair than it is to wash a car seat, so you might not want to get it all peanutty. :\

I heard using ice helps it to harden up and makes it easier to get it off. Try it.

Ice and more ice. When totally frozen solid - harder than a rock - scrape it off.

In addition to goof off, which is a great product, you can try ice and a butter knife.
