If you have had more activity than usually you could have pulled a muscle, there are also ligaments that can tear if you hurt it while bowling. But there are also some serious conditions that can occur in you late teens. If the pain presists for a week or more I would see your doctor

You need to see a doctor.
A few things to consider:
1. Are you overweight? This can put pressue on your knees and lead to knee injuries.
2. Do you stretch before you exercise?
3. Do you have a family history of degenerative problems?

You are somehow putting too much tension on your knee. Watch how you bowl. If you do a certain move and it hurts, you'll pinpoint how to avoid the pain.

Were you bending down and straightening alot? That can cause wear and tear on your tendons and ligaments. The pain should subside in time.

is it a consistent pain? could be many things, pre-arthritis; circulation; possibly a pulled ligament... may want to have it checked out if it is persistent
