Husband & Wife jus had a newborn in addition to a 2 yr old daughter. Husband has bad drinking habits, drink until land in hospital. Husband also has been returning home late very often.

Wife starts to persuade Husband to return home early and stop drinking. Wife did suspect if Husband was 'straying'.

Husband starts to feel 'controlled', thinking of divorcing his Wife.

Is Husband guilty of something? Is Husband not giving Wife the sense of security? Is Husband taking Wife for granted? Is Wife being too paranoid? Should Wife give way and try not to control because of the kids?

I knew a man that when did the same thing. He was out straying along with drinking. He had a wife at home and daughter. His wife could never get him to stop. She left him. She waited until the daughter was 18. The daughter thought it should of been sooner. It is not controlling to ask a loved one to stop drinking so much and to come home. It just shows that you want them in your life. I think that he is taking the wife for granted. He knows that she will always play second to the drinking and always be there. He is also not giving her the security that she needs. Being to paranoid is when he comes home and spends every minute he can with his family and you still think something is going on. The question is do they want to show there children that drinking is more important then family?

Well, I have been with a guy that has a drinking problem. The thing is, the husband probably treats the woman differently than he does when he is sober, maybe without realizing it. That in turns makes the wife feel that he feels differently about her, after all why would he treat her differently if he felt the same. In a womans mind that makes her think the man is cheating. Then they "latch" on to their men even more, thinking if they do that the husband will realize that he loves her. Try to kick the drinking habit, your life will be a lot better

Husband has drinking problem.
Wife is justified in thinking he's straying.
Husband needs to step up and be a man, husband, and father.
Wife needs to divorce that *** if he don't change.
Screw what husband thinks about being controlled.
Husband sounds like he has control issues.
Husband sounds too selfish to be Husband and Father.

Husband doesn't want to admit he has a problem. Husband doesn't want to change. Alcohol is a major addiction to some. It ruins lives and until he admits he is powerless over the alcohol and want to change for himself , then there is not much you can do. I don't think he is cheating, I think alcohol is the "other woman". I was married to an alcoholic for 7 years. I finally decided I wanted to live a normal life. Due to drugs and alcohol he was murdered 2 months ago. It was 2 years we had been divorced.

the husband is obviously feeling guilty or something. and yes he is taking her for granted. he shouldn't be drinking and staying out all night when he has a wife a children at home. but that's my opinion.
