Why is that okay? Why do they joke about it with another "brotha" but yet the second they hear a person of another race calling them the n word- They freak out and want to start a whole violent scene? This just does not make any sense at all to me. Seems to me if you don't want to be called a certain name- then you shouldn't use that name at all in your vocabulary.

PS. calling a person a name like ****** is not a racial name like ******. So for anyone to say its okay is crazy. And if blacks don't want to hear it- then they SHOULD NOT USE IT PERIOD!!!

So a black man uses the word cracka towards white people-thats bein racist too!! See once again proving my point that black people must stop using the word *****! Black people can coe up with all the reasons why its okay- but you will never hear a white person calling another white person cracka! Get my drift now?!?! ***** should not be used!

I totally agree. I'm of African decent. I don't go around calling other blacks *****r. I would be upset if another black called me a *****r. I don't think that blacks should go throwing that word around like it means something positive because it still is a negative word.

Think of it like this: many black rappers use bitches and hoes in their music. I would be offended if someone came up to me on the street and said, "Hey *****, what's up?" But, that's just me.

My point is that just because some ignorant people use a word freely does not take the negativity away from the word. That is why a black will get angry when a white says it; it still has a negative meaning. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking that it is a term of endearment or some crap like that; that is baloney.

Over the years the word "******" has evolved into a term of endearment amongst black people and many within the hip-hop community. The word "******" was used as an oppressive term during slavery and segregation. When the word is used amongst other black people, no one feels threatened or discriminated against. When a white person uses the word it puts black people on high alert, code red if you will. And even that just depends on who the person is, and how it's used. For example, I don't think Paul Wall would catch a beat down for using it amongst his black friends. But you let George Bush try it...LOL

I'm a black teenager, some of my friends use that word. But my friends are black. I've only seen a white person say that then get beat up. The reason white people can't say that word is b/c they said as soon as slavery started. The white people used it all the time, and it is an offense to use that word against someone else. But notice, only black teens and some black adults, say the N word. The reason why most of us don't use it is b/c our ancestors fought in a civil war so no one could use the N word against them. But black teens, and some black adults, use that word b/c they don't know their history. If they did they would know it's offending.

Well One black person can say it it to another because they are not saying it in a derrogatory way. It doesn't even have to be the "N" word. It can be nicknames or anything. if i called one of my friends a "S L U T" she's not gonna get mad she'll just call me one back, we laugh and move on, but if someone she didn't know said it, she would be pissed to high heaven because they aren't likely making jokes but trying to insult you.The "N" word used within a race is used often but it's use is not in a derrogatory statement between friends. But if a person from another nationality calls you the "N" word just like the whole S L U T thing it would mostly likely be meant as an insult.

What you said is true. Actually, the "n" word itself isn't a good word. We shouldn't call each other the "n" word. This happens because "black" people still think they aren't equal to the other races. If you want to call someone the "n" word, you have to accept the fact that you can be called like that. If you think that all races are equal, you think that a "black" calls a "black" the "n" word, so a "black" can call a "white" the "n" word, which means that a "white" can alsocall a "black" the "n" word(If you say we are all equal). But this shouldn't be happening at all because it isn't a good word at all.

***** was the name given to black slaves by their European captors that is why it is extremely offencive for a white person to use it. Millions of black people died during slavery why would you want to use a word associated with that? By using that term you are inferring that that black man is your inferior, your slave, thats why he's offended. Some black people use ni**a because they want to possess the word and take the power out of it by turning it into a positive word, a term of endearment toward a fellow black but it will never be ok for a white person to use it.

I am not black, but I let some people call me by a nickname, but not others. It is my choice, based on the type of relationship there is between us.

Although I think the term is offensive and because of the charged nature I do think that some consideration of the environment where it is used is also important.

How sad for you to ask such of a question and yet you present yourself to be a Godly believer. To dwell on it seem like a kind of sick fixation just like ur other question that you have asked by calling someone a "beaner" which to me if seems as if you are just stirring up strife and want to say the word to get attention and for others to give shocking responses back. Afro-Americans call each other that name to mock the white race but not necessarliy meant to be a positive effect which I see it as no threat to you or others who are hung up on this particular topic. There are other things to do in this world than to be worried about what Afro-Americans are saying to each other. May God help you and deliver you from racism and bigotry.

Why not, depending on how it is meant?

Redundant.

They don't always, depending on how it is meant.

I bet how your toilet works (an S-trap) doesn't make any sense to you either, get over it!

So you should leave liar, thief, and idiot out of your vocabulary?

Why not watch your own language there, Bner?

And no, if you are being called cracker, it is usually meant as a gesture of disrespect.
