I have a pair of socks that I have to wear with my kilt. They're too big for me at the moment and I don't really have time to buy another pair before my friend's wedding tomorrow. How can I shrink them? They're 80% wool, 20% nylon. I've already washed them at 60 degrees. Don't know if it's made a difference but I still need to make them much smaller. Can anyone help me?

I would give them a hot wash, but then that make the material felty and that's not comfy.

I'm not good at shrinking socks but my washer is good at making them disappear.

NO.
You're beyond help. Wear trousers if you can't get another pair of socks. Even if you managed to shrink them to the right foot length they would be horribly uncomfortable. And look strange on your legs. Don't even try.
Another option would be to wear an Arab style robe if you happen to have one. No one would notice your socks.

The only way I know is to wash them in hot water, or even boil them in a pot on the stove.

60 degree Fahrenheit?? That is barely tepid! If Celsius, then you may just need to dry them hot!
Need to wash hot & dry hot!
