You are talking about a wireless router. There could be a way of checking who is accessing your router, but you will need to access your router's IP address (differnt for differentr routers) and some routers dont offer this feature.
Best thing to do is this:
1. Click on Start > run
2. Type "cmd". Thsi will take you to the command prompt.
3. Type ipconfig /all on the window that pops up
4. Look for a number whihc look something like this for a wireless ethernet connection eg: 44-45-F0-99-12
5. Access you r route
6. Look for MAC filters and allow only the folowing MAC addressses to connect top ur wireless router.
Key in the mac address u recorded earlier and restart ur router.
Ur wireless connection is now secure,.

there are couple of ways to protect your wireless internet
1. put password .. if you can't , go to number 2
2. restrict your wireless nic card mac address, put whoever address on to the router, then you no one else can get it except those are in the list. To find your mac address, look at your wireless card. It should state there or type in ipconfig /all , the physical address = mac address
After you protect, no one else should be on your network. However, if you can't do those things. Xp home has feature when you do task manager, it will tell you what users are on.

If you have control of the router you can put in the password, eliminate anonymous access and see all connections. Specific methodology for each of these is router dependent. Sorry but you are going to actually have to read the router manual

The answer to your first question is yes, you do.
The answer to the second question is to go into your router. There will be a record of all MAC addresses used to access the router. That much you can find out.

you need to ask the people you bought the computer from. They usually will help you with that stuff. I think you should stick to the old fashion way of talking to people... the Phone or pen and paper
