I am going to a small birthday party in a garden on sunday evening. The weather forecast looks grim and I want to look nice without looking like I've gone OTT, any ideas?

Nice jeans (not too long though, or they'll get wet!), a pretty top, a funky cardigan and cool wellies and a bright umbrella in the car just in case the weather breaks.
Layers and a big necklace to match if it's going to be cold.
Have fun!

If you have a pretty summer dress that you can wear with a light cardi or something similar, go for that. Or alternatively if you have a long/ish skirt you can wear with boots and then again, two layers on top so you can easily adjust to the weather. Alternatively, you could try glamming up some jeans with some funky shoes and a sparkly top, all topped off with a fitted jacket or open, untucked shirt...?

Hope some of that has helped you.... Any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Try a cute pair of gauchos with some knee high boots and cute sweater. For a fashion statement try a belt slung low on your hips. (something with some sparkle).

I would go for smart trousers a nice top and take a jacket / cardigan. This way you should not get cold but if it warms / brightens up you will also not over heat.

A simple sun dress with a light sweater that you can use if its rainy. The shoes can dress it up or make it more casual. go for flats if you are going to be in grass.

wear something casual. like a pair of pants but not jeans and a nice shirt. also, wear warm colors like light pink or baby blue or a light brown.

I think this is a very pretty formal dress, that doesn't scream "wooooow, look at me, I am way too dressed up for the occasion". ;)
