One of the biggest problems in studying "reality" is avoiding making unchecked assumptions. Our modern science has developed descriptive mathematical equatons that describe reality as we perceive it. One of the assumptions is that the three dimentional surface we see that is defined by the phenomenon we call "light" is the wall that surrounds the universe. Actually, the speed of light is part of the boundary phenomena between the physical plane and another part of the universe called by some the Astral plane.

It is important to remember that a descriptive formula or theory is not the same as a true understanding. Belief in a formula or belief in a religion tends to create barriers to advancement since belief is a stopping of inquiry and substitutes artificial certainty for an active and inquiring mind

You might want to read "The End Of Time" by Jullian Barbour. He is beginning to question some of science's unchecked assumptions.

One of his ideas is that time is not a basic existing part of the universe. If so, the entire "time-space framework" concept must be seen as one of these descriptive theories that is of limited use and is not basically real or true. My opinion is that space itself is also a descriptive term, but does not define a basic reality. The concepts "time" and "space" are like the concept "shadow", real in a limited sense, but not basic substances. Barbour says motion is an illusion. I disagree. I think the basics are particles and forms, and motion. Time and space are their shadows.

You may get a useful analogy by studying the Phlogiston period of science. The proponents of the Phlogiston theory had a description of reality that included everything they had observed up to that point. However, when atoms and elements were discovered, their theory broke down and had to be replaced. We are currently in the Phlogiston period of Cosmology and Physics. The confusions about the nature of light and the impossibility of incorporating gravitation into the rest of the cosmological formulae are indications of the need for more information.

What is "the definition of a moving wave" to which you are referring to? How does light contradict this?

Maxwell's 4 equations explain that light is a self propagating electromagnetic wave.

Because it appears to be a particle. They can count individual photons hitting a collector, showing that they are not waves.

Interestingly, the 'slits experiment' shows that light is a wave, not a particle. This discrepancy is one of the neat effects of quantum mechanics.
