All the reasons listed, with the possible exception of number 7, are legitimate grounds for leaving a job. The degree to which each of them are true would determine what would be the main reason though. Compensation is the main reason anyone gets a job in the first place, so of course it's a primary consideration. Everything after the compensation is a trade-off though: how you feel about your boss, the environment, commute, stress level, advancement potential. It's sort of like a P & L report - you want to feel like you're coming out ahead when you consider your income versus what you have to go through to earn it.

the boss/coworkers are the biggest problem that i seem to have at work. i quit the last job that i had, of six years, because i could not stand the people of the company any longer. after about four years, i was through with them all. i thought that i could tough it out for at least ten years but then i began to dread going in everyday. i loved my work, just not the people that i worked with and for. so, i quit and moved far away.

the distance thing is difficult but sometimes worth it . I drive 40 miles a day total back and forth in order to have a low stress environment here with a grrreat boss. dont quit till you have something better!

i would quit if there was no promotion potential and I know that I gave the company 100% of my time and interest and then I would only quit if I found a better paying job with good benefits and higher wages.

1, 2, and 6. I would never take a job I couldn't get to. I tend to soak up other peoples' emotions, so if they're always angry and stressed, that doesn't help me at all. I *have* quit jobs over that.

Wow, how about all of the above. I'm stuck in a position right now that I want to leave because of every single one of these. I'm trying but I need something else lined up first. Stupid bills don't pay themselves. ♥
