White can go with just about anything. Try pink shoes with that combo.

Wear the pants and tank with some brown (rustic looking) sandals and a leather-string necklace and pendant (can be anything - just needs to look like you bought it on an eco-tourism trip).

There is an old "rule" which dates back to the turn of the century that says a lady shouldn't wear white after Labor Day (that was back when strict guidelines - hem length, hat type - ensured that everyone had a similar approach to things - it was meant to seperate the ladies from the not-so-ladylike) (these rules have always existed, until now - even in the Renaissance, there were actual laws listing what nobles could wear and what others could wear - even if a peasant could afford pearls, they couldn't wear them - it might make others think he was noble!)

Luckily we now live in a time when fashion "rules" are much more relaxed and individual taste is what it's all about. I am sure you would look lovely in your pieces - substitute canvas tennis shoes, wear a jeans jacket - what you have are wardrobe basics.

What you need is some confidence about how to let yourself shine through, and how to pick pieces that will give your confidence a chance to show. I think the best magazine for this is IN-STYLE, and it's worth every penny of the subscription price (much cheaper that way). It's a great magazine, not catty, and shows all sorts of looks in all sorts of price ranges. It will help you determine your style and figure out how to pull pieces together to make you look and feel your very best....

(When I say pendant up above, don't be afraid to buy brown leather shoelaces and put a shell on one of them - it's that simple and cheap. But if the shell has meaning to you, the outfit becomes more of a reflection of you. Simple hoop earrings finish it off....)

Everyone knows about fashion only if they care to learn - it just means you're starting. Have fun!

That sounds great! And since neither are bright colours, you could add colour-- or neutrals like brown/tan/white if you're more conservative-- in your shoes and accessories. Sounds like you could easily dress up the outfit with cute ballet flats or beaded flip-flops and either a chunky necklace or hoops--less is generally more with an outfit like that.
Another fun idea, if you're not much for jewelry, is to find a nice skinny scarf (I get mine at thrift shops) that adds colour, and use it as a belt. If it's long, tie it off to one side through the loops; if it's short, knot it in front with a square knot (the kind you might have learned in Brownies/Scouts... left over right and under, right over left and through!)

Just saw what you added about shoes... I would say no to the blue shoes unless they're dark navy. If they're lighter blue than navy, they won't look nice with the olive. So between those two, I'd have to choose black heels. But seriously, I got funky ballet flats from Payless on sale--they're gold with jewels and embroidery--and I wear them all the time and get compliments, even though they're cheap shoes, because they're so fun!

The colors will match fine, white looks great with a darker color. Shoes will depend on whether this is a more dressy or casual outfit. If you want to dress it up try a shoe with a little shine or some kind of embelishment. If more casual, maybe a cork wedge or decent flip flop.

White goes with anything. You can get some nice strappy white or olive sandals to wear. You can also wear gold sandals.

yes, white goes with a lot of things, and the outfit sounds cute! I would go with some flip-flops (if you want to be casual), or a wedge heel (if you want to be less casual, like for an important picnic or barbecue). And if you wanted to wear jewelry, gold goes well with olive.
