What about that new Volkswagen Rabbit. I think that the prices are starting at $14,899 for the base model. I heard that the Volkswagen is a good make. With a 150 Horsepower Inline 5 this thing sounds like a good deal for the money. or maybe you are looking for the power of a W-12 like in the $96,000 Phantom.

The most improved car I have seen in the past 7 years or so has been the hyundai. It has an exceptional warranty, has won some safety awards, and has proven itself a reliable performer for not too much money (opposed to toyota). I know someone that has an accent and it has been a good performer.

Those are typically mutually exclusive terms BUT... look into a Kia. Inexpensive and with the 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty... it's probably your best bet.
