Some are so bad, they cant possibly believe they are any good, other are just down right stupid. Do you think they do it knowing all the bad ones appear on Tele, and it's a way of getting on the Tele.

because most of them sing along to there favourite songs at home while listening to them loud. they hear themselves and the artist at the same time and convince themselves that they sound like the singer but in reality they don't.

Right, I heard that before Simon, Loui and Sharon judge the people, the contestants have to go throw another panel of judges first.
And of course, the panel have to put in people who can't sing to make it worth watching on TV.
So that's probably why they think they can sing - because they got through the first panel of judges.
I'm not 100% sure if it's true, but it does make sense: Simon and them lot can't possibly want to sit through the many thousands of contestants.

Probably friends and family are to blame for this one. Being too honest and not wanting to hurt the loved ones feeling. Either that or a bad sense of hearing.

X Factor? What about American Idol - there is NO way most of those people can really, and honestly think they can sing.

Yes, i agree, some of them are so not good, but they think they are. I think some of them maybe want to be just on tv, for a laugh i suppose, but i agree that some are genuine too..

I think they are put on the show by the producers for entertainment. They know they can't sing but the producers know that it will provide entertainment for viewers.

Some of them must know how bad they are but they want to be famous and are willing to make a **** of themselves to become so.

they do about 5 rounds before they get to see Simon Sharon and Walsh so by then they think they've got something

the same reason as when you ask "does my bum look big in this?"
friends and loved ones lie to spare your feelings.
Instead of being honest they let you make a fool of yourself which is ten times worse

Well I guess so, but I wouldnt want to make a fool of myself just to be on tv...but i guess some people would.
