As a UK citizen I as say yes.

Even though they came in late and let us fight against the Nazis and Japan more or less alone (wiith smaller nations) for a year (before Germany attacked Russia). And even though the US did make a profit out of us through loans as London was firebombed daily.

Still I think if it were not for the US we would eventually have been consumed either by the totallitairan forces of Nazism or Communism.

Therefore I conclude that America saved civilization and thats the end of it and our debt is eternal. It is easy to forget that from the ease of our democratic countries.

Thank you!

What do others think?

I would agree that if the U.S. didn't help England, Europe, then you would be speaking German right now. I think Hitler would've conquered half of Russia, and Japan would've conquered the other half too. So yeah, eternal debt is owed, just like we(the U.S.) owes France an eternal debt, for they helped us out tremendously in the Revolutionary War.

You wouldn't have been speaking German, you would have been speaking Russian. The only thing that stopped Russia from taking over all of Europe was the U.S.

Too bad we have currently lost our way...
