I just read that it's going to be available without a prescription.

I won't make any comments on how I feel about that.

My question is, what happens when you take that? Severe cramping to force a mini abortion? I don't understand why somebody would even take that in the first place...

The morning after pill, or "Plan B" pill, does NOT cause an abortion.

It causes you to have your period, no matter where you are in your cycle. So you cannot get pregnant, because if you have released an egg, it will be flushed out along with the lining of the uterus. It prevents you from getting pregnant.

There are some unpleasant side effects. It can cause nausea and mesntrual cramps.

The reason people take it is because they had unprotected sex and don't want to get pregnant. Sometimes condoms break or fall off. That's what happened to me once. Other times, women make mistakes.

If you take the Plan B pill withink 72 hours after having sex, you will not get pregnant. It's not fun, that's for sure. But on the other hand, it's better than an unwanted pregnancy.

If more than 2 days have passed since you had unprotected sex, Plan B won't work anyway. That's why it's called the "morning after" pill. It has to be used immediately.

Ahh there is so much misinformation about Plan B. PLAN B IS NOT AN ABORTION. It merely prevents the egg from attaching to the uterus, therefore preventing pregnancy. When you take Plan B, you may experience some minor cramping and bleeding. Obviously, through the way you phrased your questions, you are against Plan B, and I respect that, but at least figure out how it works and don't judge it and call it an abortion because it ISN'T.

ACCIDENTS SOMETIMES DO HAPPEN. I HAVE TAKEN IT BECAUSE THE CONDOM BROKE. I SUFFERED NO SIDE EFFECTS. IT SIMPLY KEEPS THE SPERM FROM FERTILIZING THE EGG, IT DOES NOT CAUSE AN ABORTION.
