Perhaps you know that the eggheads from the Astronomical Society met in Prague... and about an hour ago declared what is and what is not a planet. Poor little Pluto didn't make the cut.

What do you think of this uprooting of a fundamental bedrock of our sense of our local reality? Will science start unravelling? Will they tell us that the sky isn't really blue? Or does anyone really care?

What will happen to Astrology?

They are calling it a "dwarf planet" along with potentially hundreds of other such objects out past Neptune.

Each morning, I will wake up and sing a lament for the death of Pluto.

At noon, I will wail and scream and rend my garmets and gnash my teeth. I will hand out pamphlets and leaflets in the street and carry a giant torch for Pluto.

At tea time, I will drink a cup of earl-grey in Pluto's honor.

At dinner, I will fast and avoid speaking. I will cover myself in ashes and turn my wife into a pillar of salt. I will sacrifice my daughter (every evening) on a rock in the Caucases and an eagle will devour her liver.

And I will cease all sleeping in favor of leaning on a wall, pounding my fists, and moaning.

Or..maybe not.

They are actually changing the qualification of what a planet is. so instead of loosing pluto, we will gain a buncha planets but they were actually once moons. well one thing is for sure....the sailor moon show won't make much sense after this....

My question is how will this affect astrology! Honestly, I was shocked since I was rooting for Xena to be a planet. Oh well.

My whole upbringing and schooling has been wrong? How can that be? Can we ignore them and call it what we want to?
