Its basic militay tactics; divide and conquer.

By creating the class conflict and creating a class dependent upon entitlements and handouts they turn politics into "them vs. us".

The democrats have espoused a socialist agenda tellig the class that they created that the government will tax the wealthy to benefit the poor. But at the same time instill upon to poor a sense of inability to think for themselves. The poor begin to believe that they don't have to work hard to get ahead, the government's job is to not just level the playing field so things are equal, but to tilt the field so they have an advantage.

It's not a matter of dividing - growing up we all heard that the Republicans are about "Big Business" and the Democrats are for the "Working Man"... Both still hold true today...

BUT - Bush played the ultimate card for getting votes - the religious card and attracted any working man with a cross hanging on the rearview mirror or a fish symbol on his car to adding a W'04 on it -

I truly feel sorry for these religious nuts that got duped into thinking that because the President shared the same "Religious Status" as them, that he was worth the vote - because this current party is by far not the most "moralistic" administration in History....

By the way - your interpretation as to how a Democrat is thinking makes you as much of a divider as the people you criticize...

Long Live Political Hypocrisy - it's here to stay!

The stupid Democrats you speak of tend to think for some reason that the rich people in this country who make up 1% of the total population yet control 90% of the wealth are screwing the poor just because all Bush has done since he's been in office is help the rich keep more of their money and take money away from the poorest schools and while we are arguing about the important things like gay marriage and flag burning the economy has gone to the crapper. Those stupid Democrats think that the richest country in the world should have universal health care so the poor can afford to sick. Who do those idiots think we are? Canada? Stupid Demorcrats.

This is a good question. John Edwards 2 Americas didn't really resonate with me, either. And it's not good to promote class warfare.

However, the rich are getting richer and the poor and middle class are getting poorer. The tax cuts of your Republicans favor the rich, even though they've done a good job of concealing that.

I think the Dems should cool the class division stuff, but try to make people who are not rich aware that they are losing out. At the same time they need to say what they can do to improve the economy. This is an area the Dems can plan a policy for.

Gee the name calling is just so mature, somebody obviously wants a real answer here. Hmm well maybe the demoncrats are in service of Satan and just want to destroy the country. Is that the answer you are looking for? What a perfect example of the conservatives total inability to actually THINK, all they can do is hurl insults and call names. Pathetic, truly pathetic. This is the kind of "thinking" that has set the world against us, that has bankrupted us, that has tossed the Constitution in the toilet.

They don't "divide", your just ignorant. Did you know that Bush and the rest of the republican party supports tax breaks for large corporations.. I think that's terrible. You're starting to see a gap between the rich and the poor (but that doesn't mean they're being divided), it's just the system that was set up. And just so you don't bash me I'm not a democrat... Even my friends who are republican can see the faults in this system.

It's funny, I see cons doing most of the dividing. Under cons, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Under libs, I see the poor at least getting some help (i.e. training programs) getting off the system. Cons cut the programs that help the poor get off the system.

Umm..i didnt know I insisted on divide. If anything, I was trying to close that gap.

Its true that people that apply themselves can go get whatever they want. I dont argue that. My beef is that if someone is applying themselves but are stumped by unequal social behaviors (that women aren't better for jobs because sooner or later they get pregnant, that city public schools are generally poorly funded compared to suburbs or rural schools etc) then they need a voice.

You say the Dem's just want you to lie down?
The Repub's want you to lie down and roll over and they don't even bother wiping your rear, before or after.

Sensationalism. So they can "appear" to be the party helping the poor, minorities, etc. But we all know in the end that doesn't consistently happen but they want you to believe that it does. For the same reason the new Survivor is splitting up teams based on race. Some are just starved for attention and will seek any avenue to attain it!! Like your Q&A's btw!!
