I have a summer math packet thing and im like really stuck on this one problem. This is what it says...

1. a. Write a formula to find the perimeter (p) of a square. Use the letter s to represent the length of a side.
p= s x 4 (i got that one

b. Write another formula to find the perimeter of a square.

A= ___________

A = 2 x 2s

Hint: Formula for perimeter of rectangle = 2(length + breadth )
= 2 x (s + s)
= 2 x 2s

Pretty useless question though, since they already mentioned p = 4s ;-)

Did you mean area the second time?
That would be width times height for any rectangle, including a square.
A=s*s
A=s^2
(that's "s" squared)

for b, it looks like it's asking for area becuz A in geometry usually stands for area. Based on that assumation, the area of a square is the length of one size squared, this is because on a square each side is exactly the same length of all the other sides.

perhaps 'A' stands for area
if so, then:
as we know, A = s * s - (1)
s = p / 4 [from 1a] - (2)

substitute (2) into (1),
we have
A = p/4 * p/4
= p * p/ 16

for the 1st one... subtract the two aspects by using a million.5. you get -a million.2 = 0.3x multiply by using 3/10 and you gets the respond. for the 2nd, distribute the 4, and get 4w- 36 + 7w = fifty two upload 36 to the two aspects and combine like words, and... 11w = 88. verify my math i did it in my head

if u mean perimeter it will be
s+s+s+s
2s+2s
2s x 2

and if area then
a=l x b
a=s^2

P = S + S + S + S

Remember, while both answers are equivalent, they are not the same.

If A is area, then A = (p/4)^2

so: p = (sqrt(A))*4
