Good question- Our English language never ceases to amaze me,so many meanings to one word.
A native of Poland
A long piece of wood or metal
a unit of measure
propel a boat is poled or poling
end of any axis
terminals of a battery
widely separated-poles apart
Can you believe all of this for the same one little word. I would hate to have to learn the English language

i assume you are asking this in relation to the growth of a fetus, which is commonly called fetal pole. Fetal pole is the ammount of growth, or how big the fetus is..
