They aren't hated by me. Any group that can be identified as seperate, unique, unassimilated, will be the target of xenophobia. Part of being Jewish is to maintain a Jewish identity in whatever country or setting you find yourself. My family came here in 1609, not during the potato famine, so we were never identified as and discriminated against as were the Irish immigrants from the mid 1800's. But all groups are targets of prejudice until they blend into the fabric of society. Jews don't blend. There are other grousp that don't blend, like the Almish, but they are small and isolated for the most part. So bottom line, seperateness is seen as supicious and dangerous.
