My old computer is now close to obsolete, and can no longer run demanding applications. I am planning to build a computer with custom parts. I have a $4000 budget to work with, and these are the components I am currently buying. PROCESSOR: Intel Core Duo clocking at 3.6 GhZ - RAM Mem: 2 GB - Video RAM: 512 MB nVidia 7900 GTX. I run enterprise level applications working with intense graphics and programs such as FLASH MX Director, FLASH 8, Photoshop CS2, and many others, is this a good configuration? Is there anything else I should buy or change? right now, I am using about $1900 of my budget.

Core 2 Duo aka Conroe instead of Core Duo. 7950GTX in quad SLi. More system memory think 4 gb. Also get a good harddrive or 2 and RAID them.

Might as well spend your budget eh?

well it looks good for the most part. I am more of an AMD fan but if you are running hardcore applications go with the intel. if you are going to be useing alot of video rendering and high quality hardware rendering try for a dual nvidia card set up useing SLi
