IS it to have more people employed.
Is it so more people will work .
Is it so more people have more money .
Is it to offset increased fuel costs to get to work .
I wonder what minimum wage increase do for america and what are we trying to fix by increasing them .
The real problem is that in 1965 minimum wage was $1.25 and today it varies from state to state and calculating for inflation the wage should be $6.75 .
SO for 40 years the wage has continued to rise and so have the prices of everything .
IT does not matter what the minimum wage is it will never help americans .
IF we do not make goods to sell to others then we must work together to build and have what we want .
THE wage a man is paid has nothing to do with what the real value of his work is.
To my knowledge there is no fairness law in america and if i have 10 employees who make me 1,000,000 a year as long as i pay themaround 20,000 a year and know one knows how much i earn off them then things are fine .should i pay more ???

Well 50,000 would still leave me with half a million and some people will say thats fine but say i paid 75,000 and kept 250,000 is that fair .SEE no matter what you make the wage it is all the same for the workers .THEY get paid what ever the boss wants to pay and fair has nothing to do with it .
I would be happy to see no minimum wage . THEn emplloyee's would bargin for wages with the boss .
this means he can not pay 5.15 and hour if we bargin for 9 .

The minimum wage hasn't been raised in 10 years, so it hasn't kept up with the cost of living. In fact, it's below poverty level. Your statement, "...as long as...no one knows how much I earn off them things are fine", exposes the problem with most companies. Greedy employers trying to maximize their profits make employees work for as little as possible and don't even feel guilty that they're taking home 50 times as much without doing one bit more work (probably less in fact). Worse yet, some don't provide benefits, so these unfortunate workers have to pay $150 a month or more for insurance when they can barely afford food and shelter. I'm sure some employers would pay less than minimum wage, maybe only a dollar or two a day, if there were no minimum wage. This is worse than slavery. Slave owners at least provided food, clothing, and shelter for their slaves. Today's employers just send them home exhausted without enough money to pay their bills. I'm not condoning slavery, just saying we need the minimum wage law to keep workers out of sub-slavery and sub-poverty conditions.
The minimum wage doesn't cause inflation. Inflation is caused by greedy employers who make $1,000,000 or more a year while their employees only get $20,000 a year and want to keep giving themselves annual raises while their employees don't get any. The prices of goods are set by those people, not the workers.

um hello. min wage needs to go up because the cost of living keeps going up. right now min wage is $5.15 hour were i live and it has been like that for more than a decade. the price of gas, food, utilities, clothes, baby items and everything else on this planet have gone up except min wages. how are we supposed to live? the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep getting poorer. it dont make a lick of since. why is it i would bust my *** and work way more harder and have nothing to show for it and all those out there who sit around and do nothing (because i do it for them) and they have everything? most employers will only pay what they have to pay you and that is min wage. if min wage was raised to $9.00 an hour, then they would have to pay you $9.00 an hour. and with the way the cost of living has gone up, maybe if min wage was $9.00 an hour, we would have less people on welfare and more people willing to work and living a lot better.

not everyone gets paid 1,000,000 a year. there are people like me who had to start working at the age of 14 at places like mcdonalds for 40 hours a week (while going to high school5 days a week) and not make sh*t for money, just so i could pay for everything on my own.the minimum wage should go up because there are many people who work so hard with nothing to show for it. its not easy to pay all your bills on 6.75 and hour, nevermind raise children or have other financial responsibilities.

A worker is worthy of his hire. It is mostly for the working poor that it has to be raised regularly that and for kids working fast food. they all start at minimum wage. The difference to such companies can se staggering to them but it is also staggering to the people that have to work those jobs.
And for the guy that is supposedly only getting $1.25 I assume the reason is that you are illegally in the US and that if you would immigrate legally this would not be such an issue as minimum wage rules would then apply to you

In the state of Kentucky it came up to vote for minimum wage to be increased. Guess what they voted no! But they voted yes to give themselves a raise. F*** them!
