I don't know about your situation, but I've had a problem where reverse does nothing (neutral) and when I put it in neutral it backed up. At first they said something was wrong with the oxygen sensor, but further diagnosis proved I needed new transmission. Good luck to you!

is this thing an auto or man? if auto, then first things first with the car running and in p or n and at normal operating temp, check the fluid, if manual then its ur sycronizer is out. talk to a trans guy hell know just what ur talkin about. if auto and fluid fine, change fluid and filter. to really answer the ? correctly to the best of my knowlege id need more info on charistics over say the past couple of weeks. so mail me

it could be the reverse band in your transmission if it is an automatic..... if its a standard it is the forks or synchroniser in your transmission..... like the other guy said we need more information to diagnose the problem correctly....this is assuming the transmission is full of fluid
