Maybe your transmission is blown.

I don't know about your situation, but I've had a problem where reverse does nothing (neutral) and when I put it in neutral it backed up. At first they said something was wrong with the oxygen sensor, but further diagnosis proved I needed new transmission. Good luck to you!

it could be the reverse band in your transmission if it is an automatic..... if its a standard it is the forks or synchroniser in your transmission..... like the other guy said we need more information to diagnose the problem correctly....this is assuming the transmission is full of fluid
