First things first, both political parties lie.
The democrats, however, as you point out, are trying to create a virtual caste system in the US to prove themselves right. It is a perverse self-fullfilling prophesy.
They rely upon the friction between the classes to generate their voter base, the "down trodden under class". (That as I just stated, they helped to create by emphasizing the difference in classes.) This class becomes addicted to entitlement programs and gets so used to hearing how helpless they are that it begins to become the truth.
Then on election day the Democrats come to save the day, in rented busses with crisp $10 bills. Everyone who climbs aboard gets $10, a ride to the polling station, a candidate's political propaganda leaflet, and all the cookies and cool aid they can consume.

I think a lot of politicians from all parties lie to the people. This includes the telling of half-truths or partial truths or citing only the facts that support one's view, etc.
But I do think the Dems do it more. I remember in 1996 when the ads were all about the Republicans 'slashing' welfare. The reality is that they were seeking to reduce the increase in these outlays to something more reasonable than the typical 10% assumed increase. In 2000, it was that NAACP ad that basically blamed Bush for the dragging death of the black man in Texas. In 2004, it was 'hero' "Reportin' fer doody" Kerry, etc. Or the biggest lie of all, that Bush 'lied' us into war.
Then look at all the rants in here about Bush=hitler, war for oil, etc. Look at the media, who do not even write about the good things we've done in Afghanistan or Iraq, who don't talk to our military leaders, who do not expose our enemies and talk about their horrid actions, etc.
No, no politician is immune, but it seems that the left is resorting to a broader and deeper use of falsehood to garner support.

You mean, like claiming Iraq was in Nigeria buying yellow cake uranium to build a nuclear bomb and using that as a pretext to invade that neutral country?

No. Stoning is for religious folks who kill in the name of their god. I am simply correct.

I think people lie to further their own interests, and I don't think any one party does this, their is enough blame for everyone.

They lie about everything. They deliberately cause terror so we will depend on them to save us. They want to make us feel useless without them.
