That is what we do by electing Representatives and Senators to federal and state governments.

Although there are some citizens that are perfectly competent, and would fare well to decide the disbursement of their tax money, there are many more people who can't even handle their personal money, and frankly, I don't want most people handling my money.

That's why representatives and congressmen are elected - to take care of things like this that the average American is not skilled to deal with.

Then again, most elected officials aren't skilled enough to deal with it either - at least it puts the blame in one place.

I wish we could. I'd put all my tax dollars toward the military and let the peacniks pay for all their social programs. Ideally though, we would just stop paying taxes for everything except government administration and defense. The rest of our tax dollars go to things the government shouldn't be involved in in the first place.

If an individual American actually volunteers to pay an income tax, he is far too stupid to decide what to do with it. No law compels a private man or woman to pay an income tax.

Yeah, because if I plan on having kids, I will homeschool them and I don't want my tax dollars going to the public schools if I am not sending my kids to them.

i think it would be great if all citizens of all countries got a say. i guess that's what elections are for. everything is on a proxy system. If i had a choice, i would definitely want no money to be spent on arms.

no, but we should at least be able to see exactly what goes where, to make sure the govmt. isn't still buying $500 hammers again.

no-it's not a donation to United Way...it's what we OWE and they don't play games.
