Uninstall Norton Via the Control Panel -> Add/remove

If reminents of Norton remain there is a tool on the Norton CD (assuming you have one) to remove all registry entries for Norton (and Norton's LiveUpdate). See Symantecs Site for further information on that.

AVG? hmm Based on trials, tests and General awards if your going to go the Free/GPL Antivirus route try:

AVAST, ( http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html ) AVG detects Some Viri, but when your tell it to remove it, it does NOT always comply.

Avast Finds more infections than AVG (no, I do not work for any software company!). I always see a large amount of positive feedback about Avast and it's updated very frequently and gets a lot of awards. AVG is good, but in my experience, I've seen Mcafee and Norton removed and Avast installed, and the user's never looked back..

Hope this helps.

Others have mentioned the easy way - using the Windows uninstaller. Just make sure you remove all components, including LiveUpdate. If that doesn't work, Norton has a page on how to manually uninstall it at http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/529c2f9adcf33a1088256e22005026f1/a4d3327506ae7c5f88256b81007b7487?OpenDocument&prod=Symantec%20AntiVirus%20Corporate%20Edition&ver=9.0&src=ent&pcode=sav_ce&dtype=corp&svy=&prev=&miniver=savce_9.0

I've had to do the manual uninstall once, and it's a long and tedious process. It took me almost an hour.

boot into safe mode (this will limit norton) then go
start menu, control panel, add/remove programs and then uninstall nortons anti-virus.
but make sure you have already downloaded a replacement such as avast from avast .com and got you activation code (both are free)
avg is not as good as avast as it will not do a boot scan which finds and removes more viruses that way

Go to the control panel, and click on add/remove program..When you see the nortons antivirus, click onto it, and choose remove. That should take it off of your computer..

hi, you can click start-->settings->control panel --> add/remove software to remove the norton

avg is a nice software to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:
