Is the exploitation by the western world of the wealth, the culture and now the market of the 'Third world nations' is at the root cause of the present international crisis?

Yes, while agreeing mostly with what Mr. John and earlier to him most of the other answerer have contended, it is seen that what the Western imperialists were doing before the World War II, the Oil producing countries are doing to-day that has lopsided the economy of most of the Third World nations. The resentment against the uneven distribution of natural wealth and its monopoly by few nations is at the root of the current international developments, which might aggravate into a World War unless certain measures are taken to assuage the exploitation by the collective action of the community of Nations.

"The world of nations seems to be like a nursery full of perverse, bumptious, ill tempered children, nagging one another and making a display of their toys of earthly possessions, thrilled by mere size. This is true of all countries. It is not a question of East or West, of Asia or Europe." said Dr. Radhakrishnan while addressing the Oxford University in 1930s and the world has not changed much.

The West during the pre-war period exploited the African and Asian countries and when were compelled by changed circumstances to abandon the colonies to their own fate; the imperialists disfigured the nations before departure which is still bleeding, e.g. India, Palestine, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines etc. etc. No civilization, however brilliant, can stand up against the social resentments and class conflicts which accompany a maladjustment of wealth, labor, and leisure.

Perpetual disturbance will be our doom if we do not recognize that the world is one and interdependent. The famous Indian epic written in 3000 B.C. 'Mahabharata' ( XII, 298, 17 ) declares that, "The world of mortals is an interdependent organism". Exploitation of any group is abbhorable, whether it is now the Oil producing countries or the earlier imperialist countries of the West.

It's not just exploitation of wealth - in most cases, oil related. It's also about the dogs turning against their former masters.

Look at the terrorists, many of them were trained & sponsored by the former USSR to counter American influence in the middle east (via Israel).

Conversely, the Americans supplied weapons & funds to the Mujahideens -some through Pakistan - to counter the Soviet inavsion forces in Afghanistan.

I guess the exploited are getting pissed having been manipulated dying for the 2 superpowers & it's now payback time.

Economic exploitation always has social implications. One could argue that poverty begets anger begets violence. However at the end of the day, everyone makes a conscious decision on whether to hate, and turn that hate into acts of terror. When human lives are jeopardised, there can be no justification for this. The acts of terror achieve nothing positive.

Yep, people who fly planes into buildings killing 3,000 innocent people should be respected as well as people who bomb, shoot and slice civillians of thier own culture and religion just because it's not exactly like theirs (Sunni or Shiite) should be respected.
