How come radio stations are streamed on the web as well? Both TV channels and radio stations contain copyrighted material anyway.

Video takes up more bandwidth. Audio only takes up a fraction what video does, that's why it's so much more prevalant on the internet.

Video on the internet is very downgraded, too, to allow for faster viewing. If you think about it, you can definitely see the internet has a problem with video. In comparison, audio can be streamed at near-cd quality in most cases.

Radio stations pay fees to allow streaming.

TV networks do not allow anyone to rebroadcast without express permission.

Because doing that would take alot of money and bandwith that I'm sure the networks don't want to deal with for financial and legal reasons.
